About
While I’ve always been a super-competitive person, it was evident at a young age that my short, portly stature wouldn’t help me achieve success as an elite athlete. However, when my friends who were elite athletes started coming to me with questions regarding their playing careers, I quickly understood that being someone athletes and coaches could rely on was my destiny. So, my goal of a becoming a sports agent was born.
During my hunt for a job to fulfill that goal, I scoured the internet daily for the latest openings within the sports business industry. I was searching for myself, but whenever I found a role that I thought was a good fit for a friend, I would send that job description to them and explain why they were the perfect candidate. I have always taken pride in looking out for my friends, and nothing makes me happier than helping them find success.
While hyping my friends up for these jobs, something kept sticking out that made me question if they were actually the right candidate: low and inconsistent salaries. So many of these jobs asked for a laundry list of job duties, a preferred education level of a Master’s degree, and multiple years of experience, all while offering very little pay in comparison to what the athletic department wanted from their employee. Additionally, I discovered that one Director of Basketball Operations with the same experience and education as my friend was making thousands of dollars less in the same conference, while a similar DOBO in that conference was making thousands of dollars more than my friend.
Seeing this and knowing these vital employees work 80 hour weeks behind the scenes, with little recognition and subpar pay, gave me the idea to build my own agency that focuses on three principles for representing athletic personnel:
Ensure my clients are paid proper salaries, bonuses, and benefits while improving job security
Set up my clients and their careers for long-term success through custom professional development services
Create opportunities for my clients to grow personally and professionally outside of the sport
